Do any of you here do voice training? I’m not gonna say if my HRT had an impact on my voice or not but I fear I have to strive for a more androgynous voice maybe? Somebody came to me and said i looked good and wanted my number, and the second i opened my mouth they said “nevermind”.

I hate being nb i wish i was a binary trans person. Then at least i could voice train and actually enjoy my voice then and not get dysphoria from it… Oh and then I could maybe actually pass as something and not be constantly seen as a tranny forever and ever. Fmsel

I voicetrained in a hyperfeminine direction for about 1 month, starting the day after I started hrt, but since I was already a singer and impressionist it wasn’t really difficult at all, so I just kinda nailed that down completely and talked exclusively in a gigafoided voice for years. These days I still use the female voice for most social interactions, simply because womanmoding is safest and enbies don’t get to exist, but when I get really close to somebody, I let them see androgynous and even masculine sides of my voice, often stabilizing in an androgynous range behind closed doors.

I have a bit of echolalia, so if somebody has a voice that I find kinda interesting or funny, I seriously struggle not to do an impression of them. If I don’t seriously regulate myself, watching television with me is basically back-to-back-to-back uncontrollable impressions of male and female characters alike, and the fact I’m good at doing both is a big source of pride for me. What I desire most is unlimited range, as opposed to simple stable vocal androgyny, y’know? Even pre-troon I didn’t really know what my “actual voice” was tbh, I played around with it too much, and would often just unconsciously emulate the person I’m talking to anyways.

I technically voice-train every day of my life and have for a very very long time, but it’s more in a singer-voiceactor kinda way and not so much troon-focused.

I would recommend voicetraining in a binary direction, and then just kinda tuning things down to be more subtly feminine or outright androgynous once you have that experience under your belt. I think this is the most effective method.
