Among other things it said that it was especially bad with trans women, that it called biological males, and that you shouldn’t allow young people to begin medical transition if they have “serious mental health problems”.

Exactly, most of these people can’t even imagine half of the shit you go through as a tranny. All of it boils down to an attitude where being trans is just treated as a mental illness. “Oh a tranny is sad? Damn, maybe they should try being less trans about it”.

My family on my mother’s side is Finnish, and my uncle keeps joking about the fact that Finland is only the happiest place because it also has the highest suicide rates so nobody unhappy is left

Tampere University did a study, I have not looked at the study yet. Finnish healthcare divides trans healthcare to two cities, one of which is in Helsinki and the other one is in Tampere, so they probably had access to resources from the Tampere transpoli. The article mentioned that “it’s known from previous studies that gender minorities also experience minority stress, which could partially explain the increases in mental health symptoms”.

Exactly, minority stress. That’s actually a good term. It’s a lot worse when we’re 0.4% of the population and like half of it hates us

Yeah minority stress is a real thing, and it’s not only a thing experienced by trans people. I think I just don’t like the framing of the article.

If you want to look at the article for yourself, here it is: https://yle.fi/a/74-20219979

I don’t know if Google’s translation for it would be any good. Sometimes Yle makes English versions of their articles, but I didn’t see one for this. I also have not dared to look at the comments for this because it would probably make me want to kill myself.
