A few people online think everything bad that has happened in China is fake news by america or smth and that mao zendong was a kind hearted progressive leader that was incredible, when you bring up he let millions starve they just say “atleast he wasnt hitler” am I missing something, am I stupid and retarded snd know nothing abt history and China. I have a friend who lives in China and He views China in a really positive light and fully trusts his government even tho he needs a vpn to talk to me and is genuinely scared of me using his friends qq account to criticise the Chinese government bc hed get arrested. Ofc theres alot good about China and id love to go there someday im just a bit confused why ppl in the west think its some utopia free from capitalism, racism and has lgbt rights or wtv

the common thing said about Mao Zedon is he was 70% good, 30% bad. that’s actually what chinese school teach about him, as well

he, but it’s also important to keep in mind it’s not like he was the only to blame on how it went down like that, was largely responsible for the great famine from the failure of the agricultural advancement from many factors like not considering the lack of forge training and high pressures of performance on the people’s communes; however, china was always very prone to famines as you can see in their history and chances are any other leader of the revolution would’ve ended up in a similar position. anothe major critique is he went overboard with his theory of the “forever revolution” and ended up eliminating party members under the excuse of being “counter revolutionary”

however, it’s also very important to remember what great he brought. he lead a revolution in a country where pseudo-feudalism was still in place, in a country of farmland in a world where every other country was already industrialized. after his rise into power, his famous purge of landlords incredibly helped chinese people into being able to afford an home, he lowered the cost of living and he raised the educational standards. without Mao, it’s VERY likely today china wouldn’t be a massive superpower rivaling the USA; they would be a third world country plagued by extreme poverty and likely split off into different sub countries

tbh if china have otc hrt and free access to trans surgeries and recognition i would 100% be chinese stan, i don’t care about the rest, my politics are more based on what makes trannies quality of life better, i don’t care if they make surveillance or not, or if the government doesn’t want me to talk shit about them

tldr: anyone saying china is anti-west is wrong, china is the west turned up to 11 and we (us, eu, australia) are going there too. they just dont like eachother.

idk much about chinese culture but im pretty sure the chinese government is kind of like the us in terms of lgbt, not explicitly against but still doesnt want them

also mao zedong was a piss poor leader imo, he basically forced people to work way more in factories producing steel instead of producing something they could eat, resulting in the famine, but also the great industrialization we know china for, an while the quality of life in cities is objectively good now (like not mental health wise id guess) i dont think sacrificing 60M (i think i learned this number in hs, not sure) people is a reasonable price. im not saying the west had no influence on their need to industrialize to avoid being colonized or smth but yeah the world is fucked and in some places and times, it is more obvious than other

i often hear about chinese censorship and surveillance state and how it violates human rights: yes this is bad, yes this was worse than in western countries. keyword “was”. every country aspires to this kind of control over their population, and now that we have the means too, the west is jumping on the bandwagon: for example in france here we have new laws that make you unable to navigate privately on the internet by having to show an id to access porn sites, more and more cctv proposed as a solution agaisnt “insecurity”, an inconstitutional facial recognition app given to every police officer, cameras of phones and computer randomly turning on secretly to “try to catch terrorists”, and many more im sure, we just have less incentive to tell on ourselves, instead we point the finge elsewhere

    /drunk rant ends here

It’s better than usa is why. It might not be perfect, but at least it’s not so bad.

It’s mostly just the loathing I feel for the USA and a need to feel positive towards something, so I fantasize about about the mythical east submitting the occident with its alpha pheromones and boypregging it.

Take this retardation elsewhere please. Nobody is making a case that China is a utopia, but is it really that difficult to understand why someone might support their government if they have been able to consistently increase the standard of living? China has gone from largely undeveloped to a global power in a matter of decades, that is testament to the merits of their system.

You need a vpn to access plenty of stuff in “free” Western nations too, who actually gives a fuck? That liberal concept of “freedom” is a facade to keep you placated with meaningless distractions. Who cares if you can openly criticize your government if it never results in any positive change? Why are you casting judgement when you admittedly know nothing about the country? What does yours look like?

there’s definetly some people that see it as an utopia, but those are 14 years old on tik tok first stepping foot into politics and you should just ignore them

it’s very easy to be supportive of the government and not mind repression of civil rights in china if you’re not part of the religious or ethnic minorities being oppressed there. i don’t think any country is perfect (obviously even the US does this too) but trying to gloss over that fact that “western” “liberal” civil liberties isn’t important sort of ignores all the people it genuinely hurts.

Let those without sin cast the first stone. It’s a bit absurd to fear monger about China with what’s going on in the US (and Europe, at the behest of the US Department of State).
