So far, chrono trigger. Yeah ik its a popular pick , but lately ive been really interested in getting into them further. For a while i thought that most turn-based rpgs were boring, but chrono trigger changed my mind. I have a bit of a bad habit of picking up and dropping games before making it to the end, even if i did actually like them though
As a kid i really liked some of the mario rpgs, like ttyd and bowser’s inside story too
Good choice. In my opinion Chrono Trigger is the best game ever made. My favourite is The World Ends With You though. It actually changed my outlook on life.
oooh yeah i wanna play TWEWY too, ive heard people raving about it for years. And any game with a stylish art direction like that will immediately perk up my interest, I’ll check out that and the smt/persona series after wrapping up Mother 3 and Dragon warrior/quest 1
I asked online “which dragon quest game should i play first in order to get into the series”, and they said i should play the original version of the first game
Why would they say that…Dragon Quest is extremely archaic even its newer releases and remakes. I like older games, but not even I am such a purist that I would recommend that over the remakes. They also look really cool.
Another recommendation is Octopath Traveler 2 btw., I honestly think it is one of the greatest JRPGs of the last 20 years. I adore it.
Yeah, I get it, being somewhat of a game historian is also my main reason for liking DQ. That being said, if you did not play many JRPGs, unlike me, I think you should play lots of other stuff first. It makes playing DQ better. Playing DQ before let’s say FFVI is pretty crazy to me. In my opinion you should postpone playing DQ.

Yeah i really like the hd-2d art style too, I’ve had the remake of Live-a-live on my wishlist for a while
Live A Live remake is nice, but Octo 2 mogs it. Actual peak game.
Ive always really loved the look of games with 2d characters in 3d settings, and HD-2D games are like eye candy to me
