from my understanding it’s just what happens with Pokémon, everytime a new generation is released everyone hates it then a few years later it’s somehow “the last good game in the series” I seen it happen with sword and shield in real time, the switch up was weird 😭 everyone seems to love it now, but everyone hated it when it came out. the same thing is happening with scarlet and violet, helped by the switch 2 “upgrade”
Yeah, that kinda happens with all long running franchises I’m aware of. Like I have my complaints with the newer games, but I still enjoyed them. I’m getting off topic, but the cycle for a lot of things seems to be pre-release hype then post-release complaining and resentment as the honeymoon period ends, and then nostalgic appreciation.

X and Y were loved on launch but now they get shit on all the time
