      Anti-trans rhetoric comes in different flavors and the talking points can change over time, even surprisingly quickly. Cis people can often fit multiple seemingly contradictory ideas at once. They can talk about how dangerous trans women are and gloat about the suicide rates, and the next second talk about how they don’t hate trans people but just think that ‘transgenderism’ is a tragic mental illness. If a story comes out about a trans woman in their teens dying after taking hormones they ordered online, they could fall back to the groomer narrative for example. “These kids should be getting mental health support instead of bathtub hormones from creeps online”, which then leads to them cracking down on diy and doing nothing about mental health support (which is a good thing because they would probably just give the money to conversion camps).
