ehhh ethnic names are kinda controversial in my ethnicity. taking an ‘authentic african name’ is seen as corny or very Hotep. but taking a Black american-ish name is frowned upon because it sets our children up for workplace discrimination so they get stuck in the ghetto forever. i’ve never thought indepth about it because i pretty much picked my name from a fictional character who looks like me. and its a common name anyway in xtian places, and Black americans are very xtian so it won’t get me any weird looks or anything. its very me.
