I haven’t really done it yet, since there isn’t much point. I want an insight into the name picking process.

i picked one i liked and found cute when i was like 13. it wasn’t really clocky, kinda grandma-coded at worst. but after years of only ever hearing it to be humiliated, ridiculed and abused it grew to feel alien. but i also got used to having no name (my family tended to call me titles like child, son, viper, various other insulting animals, etc) so i just picked the mosts popular women’s name in the year i was born in for the case i’d tell someone and they might use it. kinda turned out pointless but that’s how i picked it.

it’s alright. at this point it’s my fault, don’t worry about it. i just stay silent in the few cases i talk to someone and they tell me their name expecting mine. i might get away with saying it now, but i can’t let myself risk it. mostly because even thinking i’ll do that makes me terrified and pretty sure i’d have a panic attack if i tried. like i do every time i try to go into any clothing store.

truncated version of name i had to choose in japanese class in 9th grade, sort of has a meaning i aspire to. i think japanese name looks better with my last name and i was a little bitter about it. if i had a do-over i dont know if i would choose this name again but ive had it for 6 years now so i would feel weird changing it

I’ve got absolutely no clue how to pick a gender neutral name. Best of luck. Is there ever really such a thing as a gender neutral name?

I can’t say much since I’m in the same situation. When I eventually change this I’ll probably overhaul my last name too for something that works well. I don’t want any ties left so I’m thinking of the whole ensemble instead of just one. I guess I’d want it to reference something I like.

What I do have is a blacklist of names I’m not touching with a ten foot pole. Something something better smell like nothing than smell bad

I’m in a weird situation where I lose my papers if I change it in the next two years but I have to do it before I graduate because I’m not walking out with that stain of a name on something I’m breaking my back for. I have time.

Best of luck in choosing a name. There’s good choices out there, just make sure that it suits you. I guess books are a good start

          Well, for starters:

Ayden Kai Robert Most nouns Any other dood name Clockable variants of male names Male variants of what I was given to begin with (Just, no.)

On the whitelist I’m strongly considering Jack or Bill. William is too clocky imo but for paperwork if I’m going with the latter it wouldn’t be bad.
