I daydream a lot about this surgery and have considered trying to save up money to get it, but I get so scared about how it could potentially mess up your quality of life, especially from all the after effects I’ve heard described. Do you think it would still be worth getting?

i looked into clavicle shortening too but i think that surgery genuinely has proven long term complications, i defintely don’t think it’s worth especially for how little they take off in most cases.

the shoulders can actually be fixed in better ways by being more balanced though. even in this rib pic rel i shared in the before she actually already had clavicle shortening and you probably couldn’t tell at all. what actually made the difference is the ribs.

i’ve heard so much conflicting information on clavicle shortening, what are the proven long term complications?

long term was maybe the wrong phrase to use as the surgery is still pretty new overall, but i mean even short term complications seem pretty abundant. if you look at the trans surgeries sub there’s lot of complaints about mobility, fragility, having to get revision, etc. on top of that most results barely look like they have changes since they can only take so much. it feels like the equivalent of a 6’3" person getting height surgery to be 2 inches smaller, just not worth it.
