I seen discourse that “tranny” is a word only used by trans women and trans men who say it are transmisogynistic. Am i the only one who thanks tranny can be used for both trans men and women?
Like the word is just a slur for being trans. It isn’t a slur tied down to being a trans woman specifically. i never saw it be used soley for trans women and saw trans men be called it too. And it seems weird to me that if a trans guy calls himself a tranny that is bad? Like it is just a descriptor of calling yourself trans.
Like if a trans guy calls a trans woman a tranny that is a diff story, but saying the word itself is transmisogynistic is just silly to me. Imo even calling a trans woman a tranny isn’t misogynistic when the person doing it is trans but also i am self-deprecating and the slur holds no water to me. It’s just slang for being trans for me at this point. So if you called a a non-4tran trans woman tranny then yeah that isn’t a good move as she isn’t accustomed to the slur.

Troon is a portmanteau of trans and goon so i would consider it gender neutral as well. However unlike tranny i never seen trans men call themselves it so i can see the argument for it being a word linked to trans women solely.
Tranny was created by chuds who don’t consider AFABs to have free will and intelligence so for them it meant a trans woman only and they didn’t even have a slur for ftms
Then we reclaimed it and started using it on ftms too because they’re also trans

Yeah to me it doesn’t even register as a slur or insult. So if a trans guy called me it I would just view it as a normal way of refering to myself
why flatten another term to mean “all trans ppl”? if a trans man/masc get called a tranny its because they have enough characteristics closer to a trans woman, and since twoman have hypervisibility anyone looking visibly trans will be called a tranny, they shouldn’t claim the tranny slur.

Also agree in a sense. Transmisogyny at the end of the day is just misogyny. Same with transmisandry. We just put the trans label to separate trans women with cis women and trans men with cis men. Though i will say trans women face unique issues stemming from her tranness that cis women don’t, which a label like transmisogyny can help in.
