Yeah it was relating to Gavin newson vs Vance he basically responded to a chatter saying trans people would be fucked and he said something along the lines of for the spirit of the proletariat to not die and we lose the opportunity at class conscience in this country he would take the trade off of making a small % of the population’s lives worse to improve everyone in the us’s lives a lot in the long term.

I think that’s an awful argument because in any realistic scenario the tradeoff is not between trans people’s well being and class conscience. All making that argument does is show that you view trans people as pawns you’re willing to sacrifice for (the possibility at reaching) some greater goal. The real argument here is that Gavin Newsom is an opportunist pos who doesn’t actually give a fuck about trans people, and that anti trans legislation was being passed more and more on a state level even while Biden was president. From the point of view of trans rights voting for Newsom might just end up being like pissing your pants in winter to stay warm, but I don’t think refraining from voting is going to do anything either or actually guarantee anything will get better in the long term.
He said if Gavin was the dnc candidate (‘so don’t make him the candidate’) he’d rather vote for Vance than newsom. Bc the last time a feckless Democrat got into power after a Republican people just voted in trump 2.
