Ive operated a dance competition twice a year for 3 years now as a contractor, and I remember last year having lunch with the dance comp staff as a bit of a repper. The hard part of these dance comps is that its HUNDREDS of children, 95% girls, and their family members, all of them cis and you know how dance parents are, so it’s a high risk environment for me. I didn’t pass as well last year and had no breasts, so I used the family washroom when I could and the men’s when I absolutely had to. Luckily I’ve never used my deadname with them but my name is quite androgynous so it’s possible to boymode.

The first time I did the gig my client provides lunch so I go and eat it with them in the staff room, and this was when that controversy was active, so the topic somehow came up. The cisf MC for the gig started a small rant like “I just don’t know why someone would do that and how they’re getting away with it” and ppl were agreeing and I just FROZE. It was giving Terfy undertones and I’m absolutely surrounded by the worst types of people for this kind of thing so I can’t actually speak up without risking anything. I don’t think any of them are overtly transphobic otherwise I wouldn’t get the gig lol, but they’re rather ignorant and libby.

This year I’m passing much better so I’m using the women’s restroom and not getting any hassle, and everyone on the staff know I’m trans so they know at least to not be shitty around me, I’m generally kinda liked but I think it’s a “one of the good ones” situation, because I’m not a gross tranny like that teacher obviously.

Using the women’s bathroom on this gig is a big step for me so I’m feeling accomplished but very neurotic because of it @~@

This is the same gig 2 weeks ago where the clients husband grabbed my shoulders twice and we know how that went so let’s see if I have a breakdown yippeeee

(OH and last year I had to share a hotel room with the cism streaming guys and this year I get my own room in an airbnb so I’m happy)
