hello it is i mailmoder back with another mail fact that may prove useful to all my domestic customers (usa)

there are certain criteria for when we are allowed to search your mail without a warrant, the main reason that you can accidentally run into is when you send something via media mail!

media mail is one of our services for shipping, like ground advantage, priority and priority express, the difference between those three and media mail is the following

  • there’s no built-in insurance (all our other services listed include $100 of insurance)
  • it is slightly slower than ground advantage (usually doesn’t matter if you are sending something close)
  • the contents of the parcel MUST only contain media with no advertisements, such as books, music, movies and video games

if your parcel has ANYTHING other than media WE HAVE FULL RIGHT TO OPEN UP THE PARCEL AND CHECK and if there’s anything other than media we will charge you or the recipient with postage due.

i hope this helps for anyone that wants to send a nice parcel of media to someone but wants a bit of a cheaper rate! (media mail starts at about $5 whereas ground advantage starts at about $8)

btw what i told y’all was entirely legal to share, it is on the post office’s website, i dont wanna link it here cause i wanna share more mail facts (just listing different products and services we offer)

      no we only open under suspicion, we don’t open all mail that’s sent via media mail…

      also i don’t typically see video games being sent through media mail, usually ground advantage since it’s only a couple dollars more and includes enough insurance to buy the game again in case it gets lost.

      When I mean “i don’t see games being sent” I am basing it off of what the name of the shipper is. Usually book stores and video stores use media mail and have very obvious company names to reflect this.

          here’s an example on what i mean by suspicious:

          one day while i was sorting parcels i got aparcel that had the media mail postage on it. what tipped me off was the following

          • it was stupidly huge for how light it was (about 2ft3/56,634cm3)
          • it was going to a phone repair store in a mall (like those shitty kiosk type places)
          • the parcel was partially open and i could see knock-off airpods
          • the box was super flimsy

          even if the box wasn’t already open the big indicator was the size, weight and destination. you more than likely had ur manga sent in a box or even more likely a plastic bag. those plastic bags are thin enough that we can feel that it’s a book and would not open it since we have no need to

          if we opened every parcel that said media mail no one would want to use that service lmao
