like, idk how it is on app, but on the web version of here you can click your profile and there should be a drop down to see all the media youve uploaded. including duplicate pictures that might have been used more than once.
just deleting a post/comment, or editing it to take the photo out doesnt actually delete it. you have to go to that media tab on your profile and individually delete every picture.

I thought about there being a bot that checks any file older than like a month to see if its linked to any post and then if not deletes it from the servers, idk how hard it would be to implement but i feel like lemmy should just do that inherently tbh
Especially with how embeded images work here, you can very easily search for every single instance of an image being used

im new here and when you search for something it includes deleted posts/comments too, like you can read the whole thing unredacted in the search results
