Yeah that show is beyond stupid, I really thought it was gonna do something but its just a generic terribly written terribly thought out superhero slop

Also atom eve + invincible is vomit inducing for me, straightslop and a half

it’s also just like, terribly liberal, every episode feels like i’m voting to the democratic party and i’m not even american 😮‍💨 i still watch it cause it works as slop if that makes sense…

Would you elaborate on this? To be clear, I almost definitely know what you mean, I just think it would be cathartic to me to read someone hating on the show since I watched it with a genuine fan of it while i slowly realized how irredimable it is (i thought it was good bcs i value that persons opinion). Anyway, traumatic experience for me obviously, please help me heal from it

mmmm yk i rly don’t have an elaborate opinion yet, never rly put a lot of thought into it. i don’t think it’s rly that different from other superhero slop, they all have this kind of very bland very naive and satus quoish way of viewing how politics work even if they are actually extremely political media by nature.

they present sorta like a very idealistic way of seeing how capitalist western society (particularly america) works, in the sense that there is fundamentally no meaningful discussion around systemic issues. not that they don’t show them, they are just kind of a matter of the world. background noise. the only real problems are the magical villains at the end of the day, not anything else

atom eve tried to get involved at some point in ecology and social justice if i remember right? but it felt sooo much like your avg ciswhite woman trying to gather woke points cause like, she is a fucking magical girl what risk is she taking?? there wasn’t at all any hint on wether those problems were systemic in nature either, she just uses magic to look cool but doesn’t do absolutely nothing against the system that perpetuates that ecological destruction and destroys those lives - cause there is no system at all in the series.

society in the world of inbabible follows a strict liberal logic underneath. you can even see it in the setting and the characters. a lot of the action on earth takes place in sanitized suburbs and downtowns, there is barely no soul in how they are depicted (cause suburbs don’t rly have a soul to begin with lol).

the series also is multirracial and there’s some gay or whatever but like, it’s just liberal woke stuff cause racism and homophobia probably is depicted at some point? i don’t rly remember, but again, there aren’t any systemic causes to them.

it’s also like, extremely exceptionalist? how on earth the american government and agencies are the good guys that “look for the greater good” or whatever lmaoo it’s just silly. everything political is just rly silly in this series 😭 i feel like there’s more to it and would be interesting to analyze but i honestly don’t remember even a quarter of the series lol
