I’m sorry I say the same phrases over and over when I work I do the same thing to cis girls I swear I’m sorry I’m sorry
Wait… Guys is not gender neutral? Nothing in your language has gender until something does… Bizarre.
It’d be more accurate to say that a singular “guy” is undeniably masculine, but “guys” doesn’t assume that everyone in the group is a guy. Like, a group of 1 man and 9 women could be referred to as “guys” and it’d still be considered proper, but remove that one guy and leave only the women and suddenly “guys” becomes somewhat improper, unless you’re one of those people who uses “guys” regardless of the gender distribution of a group (which is not that uncommon these days).
It’s a boys’ name, Guy Fawkes wasn’t a non-binary they/them third gender thing, he was a male
“guy/guys” is not a word for informally calling someone or a group of people? Like… “Cara/Caras” in Portuguese?
I didn’t know it was a direct reference to the gunpowder conspiracy guy, Guy
Most people using it today probably don’t know it was a direct reference to Guy Fawkes but the people who first started using it that way (to refer to any male) 100% were thinking of Guy Fawkes
I do not truly understand why this sort of thing upsets some trans girls
Because they don’t soulpass and getting called guys makes them self aware of their fetish to larp as a woman
nobody on here really “soulpasses” except a few people
Maybe they’re speaking from experience
Yeah, I’d say “you guys” plural is gender neutral. “Guy” singular is not gender neutral, but that’s not what you said. The alternative to “you guys” is y’all or you all.
It’s so much easier to say yinz or y’all, and yinz flows off the tongue very well, more people should say yinz
where I’m from I’ve never heard a single person say yinz, we are a y’all zone
Yinz is superior though 100%
no, it sounds weird bad and wrong unlike y’all which sounds correct and good
I love saying you guys to a group of trans women the hon ones seethe so much ahaha, you can really tell which ones are actually women and comfy with it
