Tranistan lives!

Since the server was created back in february 25 (waow) we’ve been getting a lot of traffic and users, more than we could have ever anticipated!

It is because of this that our server hosting costs have been steadily increasing week after week, and we’ve now reached a point where we feel that in order to keep this operation sustainable for us, we must ask from you to support the cause!

As stated in our privacy policy, we rely entirely on donations to keep the servers running. We don’t sell our user’s data and we don’t run ads (and we never will).

The numbers

So, how much money does tranistan.com need to keep functioning?

Our running costs are approximately 100$ a month, divided as such:

  • Main application server (4vCPU, 8GB RAM) - 48$
  • Database server (2vCPU, 4GB RAM) - 24$
  • Test server (1 vCPU, 1 GB) - 6$
  • Database backup storage - 5$
  • Taxes - 17.43$

Total - 100.43$

In addition to that, we have incurred in some 1-time-only costs at 50.50$:

Total - 50.50$

This means that we would need to raise 150.50$ now and 100$ every month after this one. We count on you to reach our goals!

What do you get from donating

The satisfaction of knowing you’re paying to use a service that prioritizes you and your community and is not as cringe as reddit or discord or twitter and it’s not run by evil vampiric pedophiles.

Additionally, once we have reached our monthly funding goal, we would love to reinvest the leftover money into the server again by commissioning artists, running giveaways or providing funds for a good cause.

We would only do something with your money that you approve of, so we’ll be setting up a community for patrons only where you’ll be able to suggest where the extra money goes. We’ll keep you posted!

      Crypto would incur in a lot of “tax” as well since converting to hard cash is gonna evaporate a large amount of the value. Liberapay takes 0% fee and stripe takes like 2%. Taxes and such would be the same once I were to convert the crypto to dollars to pay for hosting so yeah… not worth it imo.

      We stopped using the pro tier of resend.com once the initial boom of registrations wore off, so we no longer need it.
