    This is an unfortunate truth and I know not always am available option for people, but,

    Your parents will never really respect you or see you as a separate person unless and until you prove to them that you do not need them-

    My relationship with my parents sucked alot and the only thing that made it suck less was 3 years of going no-contact.

    That allowed me to say: “Listen it’s 100% up to you whether we have any kind of relationship ever again, because I would have to be a fool to keep you in my life when you treat me the way you do.”
