Gen 3 here, first played Sapphire probably when I was around 4-5.
gen1, older step brother’s copy of pokemon yellow
i had a chinese copy of sapphire that i played when i was really little too but im not sure if it was fake and my chinese was never good so i didnt really understand what was going on.
the first game i played in english was gen 4, diamond
also gen 3, treecko is still my favorite
even tho I wasnt born around that time I started gen 1 with the anime. then gen 4 on the ds but I didnt get far bc I was stupid baby. I then tried pokemon yellow on a gameboy on a trip to Wales. Then I didnt rlly touch the pokemon games till i got pokemon sword and shield on my nintendo switch in 2019, i rlly didnt like it bc i found it boring walking in straight lines. then in the 2020s when I got a 2ds. I got decently far into gen 6 and gen 7 but never beat them. Now in 2026 I have almost finished lets go eevee and im playing the switch games and rom hacks and stuff
I got stuck in gen 4 for awhile because I didn’t know you had to go to the top of mt coronet to get to sunnyshore city
It was kinda common for me to get stuck in games for not reading carefully enough
Provably my adhd
Gen 4 diamond. Game got lost at some point and my platinum got stolen be some girl at summer camp. I still think about finding her and getting it back fuck her.
despite me starting with gen 3 i beat gen 4 first because i just got stuck in victory road forever
I don’t really remember the first time I beat a pokemon game
I remember mine very clearly because it was literally some anime moment bullshit
I was still at the age where I only used my starter and my moves were running low on pp by the time I reached the champion and I ended up winning with the move struggle at low hp
I do pretty strongly remember having a whole thing about never moving my starter out of the front of my party (infernape named firey). So happy you have an anime moment from when you first time beating the game sounds like it must have been blowing your mind back then.
