like just ban the minor and call out the freak it should not be harder than that.

Over-sensitivity to being seen as in-proximity to certain unsavory things… during a global witchhunt which centers false charges of participation in said unsavory things in our demonization… I wager.
Trannies get accussed of being pedos so much that it’s somewhat natural to my mind that even catching whiff of a pedo scandal hitting a community they frequent can send them packing. Honestly, I get it. It’s a traumatic association that just kinda comes with being our kind of persecuted minority.
The unfortunate reality to my mind, tho, is that you’d basically have to use no platforms and join no communities to be free of such things… and I’m not quite ready to boycott the internet just yet…

A lot of it was also a response to the admins locking the ability to comment and post in real time across the entire site, and at first being dismissive of basically anyone who was criticizing how they were handling it. It did seem like they might throw in the towel for a little bit and nuke everything, but it seems most people have cooled off and are trying to figure out how to move forward while maintaining the site now. at least that’s how i’ve understood it. (i think “t. choder’s” comment captured the essence of the situation, but wanted to throw this part in for extra context)
