I’ve been thinking about watching the castration movies because they’re in the letterboxd video store but they’re so long! I started watching People’s Joker last weekend and didn’t finish it, but I like its concept. Some of it was funny but not as much as I’d hoped.

I really liked TV Glow overall and especially identified with it as a mid 20s transitioner. Maybe a little glossier than was ideal but I guess that’s to be expected with an a24 release. I liked the soundtrack and the bar concert scene a lot, very dreamy. I still need to see World’s fair.

I made my first short films in middle school and a few more in college as part of a video art elective. I think I felt back then I just had nothing interesting to say artistically and formal critique was hard on my ego. I was afraid to earnestly pursue an artistic career and chose something safer.

I’ve started writing down/storyboarding some short film ideas again, but I’m a little intimidated by what making even a super low budget film would entail. Compared to some other artistic hobbies I’ve done, like writing and even DJing, I think film is a much more expensive and collaborative art form? Like you can’t really make a film alone in your apartment easily unless it’s all found footage.

If anyone here is in a similar place and wants to discuss what they’re working on, especially while working a normie job full time, hmu! My letterboxd top 4 are Solaris(1972), Hackers, The Living End, and The Holy Mountain, which about describes what I’d like to emulate.
