Are you a trans woman upset with the shortcomings presented by current surgeries? A trans man upset with how archaic phalloplasties are compared to surgeries for cis men? Do you have an interest in biology or medicine? You should pursue an MD/PhD integrated degree and become a physician scientist, it’s tuition free and you’ll receive a stipend for all 8 years. Be the change you want to see, help make synthetic organ transplants possible, and invent better surgery methods. Nobody will save us but ourselves

I mean like yeah I get it but I don’t think it’s fair that we have to be some kind of class of savants when we’re already fucked up and mentally ill across the board from the trauma of being a trans just because we ARE trannies. That’s not even including how we get the shaft in academia. Why can’t we just be normal? Why do we have to make cutting edge worldwide medical breakthroughs just to live? I assume this is already excluding the many of us who will never be able to afford this shit or anyone not blessed enough to be a firstie.

yea, real… but, at least personally, i do feel a responsibility to make use of my privilege in order to do as much good as possible for others. like, if i were to just live a “normal” life, it’d feel completely pointless and wasted, tbh… the meaning in my life comes from trying to get us that tiny bit closer to a world where all trannies can just be normal people.

True, and it is def a career restricted to those who live in a country with a strong research infrastructure. In a fairer world where cis ppl cared life would be much better, but they don’t.

Tbhon I maybe would’ve considered it if I kinda didn’t have a criminal record (not getting into why, all ill say is anger issues) that would’ve prolly prevented me from doing medicine at uni

I’m studying to become a speech-language pathologist and would love to do voice training with trans clients at some point. Does this count?

I would honestly love to become a propsr psychologist for trannies here. Shame that becoming one is a road through hell.

If you want to do it and think your capable you should really consider it, ik people who worked full time during their degrees (albeit in the us) and they all said it was incredibly difficult and required strict time management, but most didn’t regret it
