Yes, this extends to all interracial relationships. I’ve never been in a relationship with anyone white, but from observing friends in them there’s always a level of “casual racism” and fetishism done for fun in the relationship. It took me a minute to realize they genuinely just like it and enjoy being fetishized on the basis of race.
People are weird
Relationship do not exist outside of already existing forms of oppression. Most people just choose to play into racist stereotypes, including sexual ones, instead of fighting against it.
This isn’t to say that I think everyone is a hardcore race fetishist. I dont think thats true at all. People just fetishize themselves/their partners instead of unpacking why they have the desire to do so in the first place.
If I had a Nickle for every poc guy I knew that actively degraded their own race to put white women on a pedestal. I’d have a lot of nickels!
