Because we aligned with the queer it made people think that being trans is an aesthetic choice, like most queer identities (not saying there are no trudykes or trufags but most queers are just quirky straight people) whereas it’s generally understood that disabilities are stuff that you’re either born with or happens to you and there’s no choice involved

    Trans people of 20th century were very much seen as a different type of homosexuals. There was no other choice, I bet.
