what happens when one of the homebrewers fucks up and makes a batch that is infected with bacteria or mold, something even industrial labs do on rare occasion,

beyond the 100s of troons that would be harmed by this it would be an extraordinary opportunity to crack the fuck down on diy,

could even see a glowie do it

You need reason for this kind of stuff. Cracking down something people don’t give a shit about will most likely give you bad publicity “oh, they can destroy estrogen distribution but not fent?”, and fed doing this won’t justify his wage in the eyes of those above him - first you make people hate the thing and want it to be taken down, then your fight against it is glorious.

People’s opinion doesn’t matter that much. Only politicians matter in the end, and they wouldn’t be impressed by feds wasting their resources on cracking down something unregulated.

No? They don’t give a fuck. Probably even Trump himself doesn’t give a fuck. They all pretend to care about stuff just to placate their voters.

For most of the things outside of the realm of economics and foreign affairs it’s simple - people or lobbyists want the thing, so politicians pretend to care about the thing to get the votes. Politicians who really care about ideas are few and far in-between.

If entire society liked LGBT then very few politicians would care or dare to go against it. Social struggles are just fuel for getting more votes. Historically most politicians personally cared only about things that harmed their wallets and structures that kept them in power.

It’s cynical and politics are thing for the most cynical of people. I didn’t say they don’t care about anything - most would simply leave their personal beliefs out of it only to keep voters and especially lobbyists content to stay in power. Politicians who truly do what they believe in are rare and mostly on lower levels.

Of course whole thing is huge oversimplification, I don’t want to write essay about it.

I see, it sounded like some people thought they’d actually need to wait for a real incident to happen
