For some reason my brain perceives English as masculine gendered, and I sometimes randomly think I misgendered someone.

    Russian is highly gendered but I never really thought about gendering English. That said, I came here when I was six so English is honestly more my native language than Russian at this point.

      Russian is my native and I spoke it exclusively for 19 years, so I think it got ingrained in my head to gender past verbs.

        That makes sense. My mom definitely struggles a ton with gendering (she is absolutely supportive so I knows it’s not malicious).

    Yes, I can’t use “it” correctly and I see English as a masculine language. Every now and then I call someone “He” for that reason.

      Same. I often unconsciously think “he” in my head, because my brain thinks everyone is writing with masculine verbs, lol.
