Rio de Janeiro, a beautiful land where all five governors of the last five terms were arrested.

Today I found out that the governor (who was the vice-governor to another governor who was arrested) resigned to avoid being arrested himself.

But his vice had already resigned because he was arrested, and his alternate had too. The position would go to the president of the Rio de Janeiro city council, but he’s going to be arrested too, so he can’t take over.

Apparently, the current governor is the president of the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (honestly, the best we’ve ever had, and what? 30 years?) and he wasn’t democratically elected.

The election is in 4 months. The government is now deciding whether there will be a direct election for a term until the end of the year or an indirect one.

All of these governors were elected on a platform of constant civil war against drug trafficking and organized crime. Elected on the “shoot first and ask questions later” platform. The last governor (the vice guy) has the highest number of ordered deaths in one day Rio de Janeiro (200 people).

They are all being investigated for obstructing investigations linking them to organized crime. Yeah, the same thing they do when they commit massacres swearing allegiance to combat.

E o Rio de Janeiro continua lindo
