    Living with abusive/neglecting parents often makes a person crave to be “adopted”. You desire an unconditional love that was missed from your parents and latch onto anyone who seems to be kind enough to deliver it. Such behaviour is often seen in abandoned dogs. It is not pathetic, it is expected.
