If you have white parents, you can just transition. they may just sling a slur or misgender you sometimes or just be assholes BUT YOU CAN DO IT LITERALLY. every person is seen as someone with their own choices and opinions. they knock on your door too.

But, if you come from a West Asian household (me) You are cooked. there is no concept of a single individual, we all are tied to each other as one ‘‘family’’. if one of us goes down we all do. the outside world is evil and we only have our own family to back down to if shit goes down. (actually true though). Family is just a much bigger part of your day to day life and you are expected to start a family yourself, quite soon. trying to find a wife is expected at your mid 20s. if you do not do that you will be excommunicated, or be held in house arrest (like me kind of). Transitioning into the opposite sex is seen as a satanic ritual, it’s a whole declaration of war against the family structure, culture and the faith.

This doesn’t go for all Western/West Asian families though, but i’m just talking about my own experiences.
