i dont see them as competing, for example look at 4tranistan, it kinda became slightly different from 4t4 bc of yuzuki, but is it competing with 4t4? not really, tranistan isn’t competing with reddit either, tranistan is slightly different from reddit and there’s people who prefer it, this happens to every offshoot, look at 4tran subs for example, they’re an offshoot of the board but reddit doesn’t compete with the board, i think more spaces are better bc of the small differences between them, some people will like one place more than another bc of those small differences and become a regular there
there are people on here who would be on reddit if here didn’t exist and vice versa. thus, they are competing. if they specialize for slightly different social niches, that’s fine, and i appreciate the added diversity in our community, but they are still competing, even if they don’t exist in adversarial opposition to each other in the minds of their userbases.
