1. I’m overly opinionated on certain subjects because of severe trauma related to them, and autism making me unable to regulate my emotions well
  2. A bad actor finds a topic where I am of the minority opinion, and have trauma related to it.
  3. Said person says something intentionally extremely cruel, but couches it in such a way that it is somewhat or completely socially acceptable to say, and continues to do this until they provoke a mental breakdown in me.
  4. If it’s a private discussion, they screencap and spread it, if it’s public, they just continue engaging til it’s pushed in front of enough eyeballs They paint me as a shitty person due to my anger and tone.
  5. I’m either disliked by a significant enough amount of people to no longer be able to engage in the space, or if it’s a private one, i’m kicked.

There are lots of people online who rely on rage bait and attention farming. Trolling is, of course, deeply annoying. The best weapon is often to simply disengage. A quick “I don’t rly like arguing about these sort of things. Agree to disagree?” goes a long way. Very few people ever have their minds changed by internet arguments.

Oh, absolutely, not saying this approach is easy or that you’re at fault for not doing it. Just a method I’ve personally found to save me quite a few headaches.
