[Paraphrased]

The minister asked the National Council for Transgender Persons to meet him extremely urgently. They complied, but the minister refused to speak to them when they landed in Delhi, instead sending his “senior economic advisor” several hours late.

When asked about their plan to protect transgender kids thrown to the streets, tortured or abused by their families-

“We have no plan or strategy. Why are they coming out of their homes? Some of the transgender people are luring these trans children into doing sex work.”

When asked about the punishment for parents who throw away, abuse, or torture their kids-

“No punishment. The child should always stay with the parent, even if there is abuse or torture”

When questioned as to why the punishment for raping a cis woman is in the ballpark of a life sentence or hanging, while the punishment for raping a trans woman is only two years, they insisted on the distinction.

They said this to the face of a trans woman who was a victim of rape.

They don’t even know what transgender means in the first place. Who are they to decide these laws.

Yes. Very much so. 10 million children between 5-14 in child labor. Child labor isn’t even a crime in some contexts.

The law of india is such a fucking mess, and it leads to absolutely hideous sentences like the following:
